Eco-logy

“Ecology” is made up of two important Greek words, each  a gateway to mysteries that lie at the very base of human life.  Its etymology shifts attention away from science and focuses on emotion, mystery, religion and, the heart.  If we would think of ecol-ogy as a development of the internal as well as the external life, we might deepen and humanize our relationship with nature,” Thomas Moore, Re-enchantment of Everyday Life.*
Eco from the Greek, oikos, refers to the human home, a sanctuary, even a astrological ‘house’.  Oikos emphasizes our need to come home to our BodyMind and Soul in this space, place and time.  Logos, the other part of (ecology) is full of mystery, sacred implications, but meaning “the study of”.
Today, I want to look at the tangible concerns of this term and tomorrow, I'll discuss the intangible.  To begin the discussion of oikos I ask you to contemplate the following questions.   What does being home mean to you?  When you are home, are you wishing you were back at work or is home the shelter for your soul?  Are you able to think of home as a sanctuary, the place for real genius, creativity, and synergy?  If not, why not?
While at home are you and loved ones happy, renewed, and empowered or is there a homesick  environment with people bored, unable to learn or lean in?  All signs indicate this society is not learning at a soulful level, and this is having a devastating impact on our ability to co-create a more humane world.  I believe The Conversation on this topic and more can be the cure we’ve been searching for and why Wellness Without Wall offers several Innovative Integral Incubators for it.  See Services and Treatments on this Website.
